Santa Barbara County will begin countywide preventive maintenance for various locations on Friday, October 18, 2019. The 2018-2019 project preserves over 14 lane miles with micro-surfacing type II, cape seal, or micro-grind treatment. Construction is scheduled to be completed by January 7, 2020, depending on weather conditions.
The County Board of Supervisors awarded this contract to VSS International, Inc. The estimated construction cost is $2.2 million, made possible by Senate Bill 1 (SB1) and General Funding. These funds to help maintain, preserve, and improve roads throughout the County of Santa Barbara. Construction hours will occur between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Fridays. Drivers should be aware of reduced speed zones and increased traffic control when driving through the construction sites. For the safety of crewmembers and the motoring public, please be observant of construction area signs and be prepared to stop when traveling through the work areas.
